General Exhibition

The general exhibition features Cantonese Opera items donated from various actors or members of the community. The donor list includes Ms. Ng Kwan Lai, founder of the Lai Sing Opera Troupe in 1955. Her outstanding performance and clear voice made her one of the most successful actresses playing the 'Fa Dan' role. Other notable donors include Dr. Leung Pui Kam, the Museum Expert Adviser to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department; Mr. Martlin Lau, Dean of Chinese Opera at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the late Mr. Lam Kar Sing, founder of the popular Hing Sun Sing and Chung Sun Sing opera troupes and one of the most prominent Cantonese Opera actors. Visitors will be able to view the glamour of opera stars at their peak, understand their masterful legacy, take a look at their artistic careers and relive the atmosphere of old Hong Kong Cantonese Opera theaters.
