New Era

To emphasize the need to “break through existing frameworks and pass on our excellence”, hoping that St. Johnians would become future leaders through joining the College. There are three proposed direction: Firstly, to redefine the standards of “excellence”, for example, teams should set their eyes, not only on Inter-Hall games, but on external or even international competitions; Secondly, to develop St. Johnians’ ability to innovate, which is a necessary quality in face of international competitions, the setting up of the “Dream-starter” fund is one of the examples of the proposal in this regard; Thirdly, to create an environment of “self-initiation”, “inclusiveness” and “a home”, such as upgrading College’s facilities and reforming the Students’ Association’s structure. Their proposed Executive Committee established a Facebook Page to hold a number of discussion sessions while some alumni disputed their overly aggressive reform proposals. In the end, the committee was not elected and the Executive Committee became vacant for the first time in the Students’ Association’s 62-year history.
