ABOUT THE COURSE

 

Welcome to the Introduction to Personal Data Protection Course, an E-Learning Course presented by the Human Resources Office.

In today’s digital era, the proper handling of personal data is a key priority for institutions around the world. As university staff, we have access to a vast amount of personal information day-to-day, and it is our responsibility to ensure that such information is protected and managed in accordance with the law.

This course is designed to provide colleagues with a comprehensive understanding of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO) and its six principles. With stories embedded in the University’s context, it covers the six data protection principles of PDPO and their application in the workplace, as well as best practices for handling personal data. Colleagues will also have the opportunity to reflect on their current work practices and develop their competence in properly processing personal data. Upon successful completion of the course, colleagues will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to ensure that they handle personal data in accordance with PDPO and the University’s policies.

On successful completion of this module, you would be able to:

  • Understand the six data protection principles of Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance;
  • Review the practices of their current work in relation to handling personal data; and
  • Develop competence in processing personal data in an appropriate manner.
