Mission

Our mission is to provide a systematic and integrated temples digital gallery. Temple cultures are very precious while their physical structures are easily damaged by the disaster. In order to avoid the loss of important cultural assets, we choose some temples from different regions and make a digital collection for them to let users gain a deeper understanding of the temple cultures and promote temples cultural exchange and communication.

Users

Our target users are semi-experts, especially investigators:

  • study temples cultures around Asia area
  • have a better cognition about the temple cultures change along time
  • search for technical and professional information about these temples
  • explore temple cultures in architecture aspects of their research

Scope and Coverage

Variety Materials are included in four collections, ranging from photos, architecture drawings, architecture models of temples and we categorize them into three exhibitions.

Region

Temples in our digital gallery are located in different places around Asia, therefore we categorize them into

  •  Mainland China
  •  Taiwan
  •  Thailand
  •  Japan

Religion

These temples belong to two religions, namely:

  •  Buddhist
  •  Taoist

Time Period

The construction time of these temples across a long time period, we categorized them into:

  • Before 1000 AD
  • 1000-1500 AD
  • After 1500 AD

Over 30 items are added to the gallery for users to accurately and effectively browse and search for related components and temple structure information through clear cataloging and description which will spread this valuable temple culture.

Timeline page will show users a integrate timeline of the development of all the temples inside this gallery, such as their construction time and rebuilt time.

Allow users to search the item in the same field. For instance, users can see all the items inside the still image field or physical object field through this plugin.

Commenting:

Allow users to give their own opinion of these temples.
