Description

Originally know as Victoria Gaol, is claimed to be the first building in Hong Kong that was built with durable materials. The prison served as a base during the occupation by the Japanese. Post the Second World War and restoration, Victoria prison became a transit and repatriation center for refugees from Vitenam. It was subsequently developed into an institution with modern management facilities for accommodating discharged inmates of both sexes prior to repatriation or deportation.
