Description
This is an ink painting by Liu Haisu (1896-1994). He typically painted by imitating earlier works. This work demonstrates his unique blending of Western and Chinese techniques with an emphasis on observing nature. The inscription reveals that it was made in the Beihai Hotel, after he climbed Mount Huang for the ninth time at the age of eighty-seven.
