Koi was graduated from the Pak Hee Cantonese Opera College. She spent two years studying Cantonese opera, including make-up techniques and how to recite the lyrics of several Cantonese operas. In 1993, she met her teacher, Lam Kar Sing in a Cantonese opera performance and began to learn from him. Her representative work were 'Tragedy of the Poet King', 'Peony Pavilion ' and 'The Legend of Purple Hairpin'.

Koi Ming Fai is a renowned female opera singer in Hong Kong. She was one of the 10 outstanding young persons in 2001. Koi was impressed by the opera performance when she was only a primary school student and thus decided to study in the Pak Hee Cantonese Opera College. She has been performing opera for the past 18 years and also being the actress for TVB.
