Description
Sopanam is style of music and rendition which is practised Kathakali, making it extremely unqiue. It is a type of Carnatic music.The Sopanam style is a slow rhythmic pace with subtle variations in pitch. These Sopanam songs are used to interpret and convey the plot Kathakali. They are central to the Kathakali performance as much as the facial expressions, and make-up and costume.
